Treat chronic sinusitis with TCM

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the mucous membranes of the sinuses and nose. Regardless of the cause, sinusitis manifests with a stuffy nose, difficult nasal breathing, impaired sense of smell, and oppressive pain in the face. Sometimes fever and headache are also present.

Sometimes sinusitis becomes chronic because the sinuses do not empty completely of mucus and discharge. This creates a continuous pattern of infection. TCM methods can often be used to successfully break this pattern. Chinese medicines cause a reduction in inflammation, removal of mucus, and a strengthening of the immune system. Acupuncture helps to locally decongest the inflamed tissue so that the mucus can drain away.

Once the sinus infection has healed, you can strengthen the immune system overall to prevent colds or hay fever.
